What Happens before Requirements Engineering?

چکیده
Welcome to the Children’s Services Planning Group! Here our task is to find a way of integrating all the various specialist agencies –social services, education, health and so on– that provide support for children with problems or special needs, so that children and their families see us operating as a team, working together with the best interest of the child at heart, instead of the old way of doing things in which each agency operated within the narrow confines of its own professionalism. The trouble is, we don’t really know how to do this. We have many years experience of not talking to each other or sharing budgets, and with all the best will in the world, changing this does not come easily. We think that an information system might help us to overcome our communication difficulties, but we don’t know what sort of system we want or how we will be able to make sense of it so that it will help us in our task of supporting an integrated service delivery that crosses organisational and professional boundaries.

Requirements and Testing: Seven Missing-Link Myths
A strong link between testing and requirements engineering can benefit both sides, but often this link is missing. Let's examine the seven most common myths or misconceptions behind this missing link. Myth 1: Requirements at the beginning, testing at the end " We don't need to think about testing yet. Let's just concentrate on requirements. " This attitude guarantees that you will have a rough ...
متن کاملWhat Happens to Intentional Concepts in Requirements Engineering if Intentional States Cannot Be Known?
I assume in this paper that the proposition “I cannot know your intentional states” is true. I consider its consequences on the use of so-called “intentional concepts” for Requirements Engineering. I argue that if you take this proposition to be true, then intentional concepts (e.g., goal, belief, desire, intention, etc.) start to look less relevant (though not irrelevant), despite being the fo...
متن کاملA Definition of Round-trip Engineering
This paper provides a definition of Round-trip Engineering (RE) and introduces RE-systems. Where previous definitions of RE are abstract in the sense that they treat views as black boxes this paper provides a more detailed definition in which views are transparent. Having transparent views enables us to reason about what happens to views during transformations. This will enable studies on the r...
متن کاملUnderstanding Requirement Engineering for Context-Aware Service-Based Applications
Requirements of software systems tend to change over time. The speed of this tendency depends on the application domain the software system under consideration belongs to. If we consider novel contexts such as pervasive systems and systems supporting dynamic B2B interaction, requirements change so fast that the research community is studying how to build systems that are able to self-adapt on t...
